This policy explains what MEANS (Mu Sigma Alpha Nu Delta) collects, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We keep it plain.
The short version. We collect your name and email, what you post in the member portal, and basic billing records from PayPal. We never see your card number. We run no advertising or analytics trackers — the only cookie we set keeps you logged in. We do not sell your information. Email us any time to see, correct, or delete your data.
MEANS (Mu Sigma Alpha Nu Delta) operates wemeansbusiness.com. For privacy purposes, MEANS is the controller of your information. Contact us any time at enwashingtonjr@gmail.com.
When you subscribe, PayPal processes the payment and sends us a limited record: your PayPal subscription ID, the name and email on the PayPal account, the subscription amount, and the date you paid. We use this to activate and manage your membership.
We never receive your full card number, bank details, PayPal password, or security codes. Those go directly to PayPal and never touch our servers. PayPal’s handling of your information is governed by the PayPal Privacy Statement.
We do not use advertising networks, analytics platforms, tracking pixels, session recording, or third-party marketing trackers on this site.
If you are in a jurisdiction that requires a legal basis for processing (such as the UK or EU), we rely on: performance of a contract (delivering your membership), legitimate interests (securing and improving the Site, and communicating with members), consent (marketing email, which you can withdraw), and legal obligation (tax and accounting records).
We use a single, essential cookie.
| Cookie | Purpose | Lifetime | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| Session cookie | Keeps you signed in to the member portal so you do not have to log in on every page. | Up to 30 days | Strictly necessary |
It is signed, HttpOnly (not readable by scripts in your browser), set with SameSite=Lax, and sent only over HTTPS in production. It contains a reference to your member record — not your name, email, or password.
We set no advertising, analytics, or tracking cookies. You can clear cookies in your browser at any time; doing so signs you out.
Embedded media. The member library and feed can embed videos. We use youtube-nocookie.com for YouTube, which limits YouTube’s tracking until you press play. Vimeo videos may also be embedded. When you play an embedded video, that provider may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy. Some resource thumbnails are loaded from the source organization’s website; most are hosted by us.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share it only with service providers who help us operate MEANS:
| Provider | What it does | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| PayPal | Payments and subscriptions | Your payment details (directly from you), name, email |
| Neon | Database hosting | Member records and Member Content, stored encrypted in transit |
| Fly.io | Application hosting | Traffic and server logs, including IP address |
| Resend | Sending transactional email | Your name and email address, and the message content |
| YouTube / Vimeo | Embedded video playback | Only what your browser sends when you play a video |
We may also disclose information if we are required to by law, subpoena, or valid legal process; to enforce our Terms; to protect the rights, safety, or property of MEANS, our members, or the public; or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or transfer of our operations (we would notify you first).
HttpOnly, which protects them from scripts in the browser. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and any regulator as required by law.
Whoever and wherever you are, you can ask us to:
Email enwashingtonjr@gmail.com from your membership email address and we will respond within 30 days. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
Under the CCPA/CPRA you have the rights above, plus the right to know the categories of personal information we collect, the purposes for collecting it, and the categories of third parties we disclose it to — all described in this policy. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not knowingly process the personal information of anyone under 16.
You also have the right to object to or restrict processing, to withdraw consent at any time, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
We send two kinds of email:
MEANS is intended for adults. The Site is not directed to children, and membership requires you to be at least 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
MEANS operates in the United States, and our service providers store and process information in the United States and other countries. If you use the Site from outside the U.S., you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S., where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
We may update this policy as MEANS grows or as our tools change. We will update the “Last updated” date above, and for material changes we will notify members by email or through the member portal.
